Central Coast Music-Con: An Opportunity for Connection
The 3rd annual Central Coast Music-Con, being held on March 18th, 2018 from 12 PM – 6 PM at Tooth and Nail Winery is a event like no other on the Central Coast. Comprised of a music business expo, community jams, educational workshops and a band networking area, this free event works to deepen connections and elevate the music scene on the Central Coast. It is completely free and open to the public; conceived of and put together by myself (Vince Cimo) and Paul Irving (Big Big SLO).
Overall Layout and Vision
Tooth and Nail is graciously donating their venue to host the event, and we are taking full advantage of the opportunity to fill out their amazing castle with music.
We have four main areas:
- Band Networking area
- Educational Workshop Stage
- Music Business Expo
- Community Jam Space
A Bit More Detail…
Directly adjacent to the main entry, there will be a section completely dedicated to bands to display, pass out and sell their merchandise. Not only will this give attendees the opportunity to leave the event with some seriously awesome schwag; it gives bands the chance to connect with other groups and make new connections.
Just past the band area is the main workshop stage, run by the fine gentleman from The Sauce Pot Studios. Throughout the day, a myriad of talks and presentations will be taking place; everything from a showcase on new music technology to a sound healing seminar. It’s going to be eclectic, informative and fun as hell. You can see the full schedule at bigbigslo.com/music-con.
Inside the South Wing is the expo, featuring booths from businesses like L.R. Baggs and Demeter Amplification. It’s very rare to get the opportunity to see how many awesome businesses involved in music there are here on the Central Coast and see their offerings all in one place. Whether or not you’re a veteran pro looking for new gear or a high school kid looking to speak with different music schools, there’s something here for you.
Up the stairs, in the Northern Wing, various concerts and community jams will be going on throughout the day. Essentially, the idea here is that anyone, regardless of skill level can hop in on a themed jam with seasoned pros and get a feel for what it’s like to play with a tight group in a variety of genres. We have some amazing people coming out and hosting these jams. Be sure to check out bigbigslo.com/music-con for the full line-up.
Don’t Miss it!
